Spectral Analysis Techniques of Stationary Point Processes: Extensions and Applications to Neurophysiological Problems
نویسنده
چکیده
-In this work we examine the behaviour of a complex physiological system (muscle spindle) by using spectral analysis techniques of stationary point processes. In particular, we investigate the effect of a gamma motoneuron on the complex system when (a) there is no other stimulus present, and (b) there is an alpha motoneuron present. It is shown that the presence of an alpha motoneuron reduces the effect of the gamma motoneuron on the muscle spindle. Keywords--Stationary point processes, Spectral density function, Coherence function, Crossintensity function, Muscle spindle.

Some New Methods for Prediction of Time Series by Wavelets
Extended Abstract. Forecasting is one of the most important purposes of time series analysis. For many years, classical methods were used for this aim. But these methods do not give good performance results for real time series due to non-linearity and non-stationarity of these data sets. On one hand, most of real world time series data display a time-varying second order structure. On th...
متن کاملSpectral Estimation of Stationary Time Series: Recent Developments
Spectral analysis considers the problem of determining (the art of recovering) the spectral content (i.e., the distribution of power over frequency) of a stationary time series from a finite set of measurements, by means of either nonparametric or parametric techniques. This paper introduces the spectral analysis problem, motivates the definition of power spectral density functions, and reviews...
متن کاملPeriodically correlated and multivariate symmetric stable processes related to periodic and cyclic flows
In this work we introduce and study discrete time periodically correlated stable processes and multivariate stationary stable processes related to periodic and cyclic flows. Our study involves producing a spectral representation and a spectral identification for such processes. We show that the third component of a periodically correlated stable process has a component related to a...
متن کاملSynchrosqueezing-based Transform and its Application in Seismic Data Analysis
Seismic waves are non-stationary due to its propagation through the earth. Time-frequency transforms are suitable tools for analyzing non-stationary seismic signals. Spectral decomposition can reveal the non-stationary characteristics which cannot be easily observed in the time or frequency representation alone. Various types of spectral decomposition methods have been introduced by some resear...
متن کاملSHIFT OPERATOR FOR PERIODICALLY CORRELATED PROCESSES
The existence of shift for periodically correlated processes and its boundedness are investigated. Spectral criteria for these non-stationary processes to have such shifts are obtained.
